Windsurfing is one of those sports that looks so effortless that everyone wants to hop on a board and give it a try. Although it is very easy, it is extremely helpful to spend your first few hours with a qualified instructor, on equipment especially designed for beginners. So you are ready to learn. The way that might seem to make the most sense is to have a friend teach you. Unfortunately, friends who are into the sport probably don't have equipment ideal for learning. They probably aren't on the water in conditions that are ideal for learning, and they probably aren't great instructors. These combinations can make for a frustrating first time on the water. Beginners should approach learning in one of a couple of ways. Individual or group lessons given at windsurfing schools are the best and most reliable way to get the bug.
